Boston
Sarah Nell and Pete moved to Boston soon after their wedding in July 2008 (yes, that was the summer I did something like 5 weddings in a matter of weeks). I always knew that they would live there long enough for me to make the trip. It just took me a little time to actually have the funds to make the trip. Over Christmas I talked more seriously about the timing of the trip and what we would do. I asked Leslie to join me on this adventure. So on a Friday night I boarded a plane out of Jackson, Miss headed to Boston via Detroit. (Interesting side note, sat next to a dude on the plane from Jackson to Detroit that asked me to dinner on my layover -- I had to break his heart and say no; although I guess it was a nice gesture.) Arrived late but we sat around and drank some wine to celebrate arriving in Boston.
Saturday morning started with brunch and then the tour of the Freedom Trail. Completed the historical stuff (because you can't really do to Boston and not do that) later in the afternoon. Headed to a Kentucky Derby party (yes, I am making plans to attend next year). It was great to meet some of their friends from Boston and get a glimpse of what it is like to live in Boston. Had a blast!
Sunday we went to their church and then had a picnic lunch on Harvard Yard. I was expecting to gain some brain cells from that visit but they must still be developing because I still don't feel any smarter (sad). We shopped along the expensive street (ok, it was just window shopping). Then we went to eat some great Italian food for dinner!
On Monday, Leslie and I enjoyed a breakfast at Appletree. Did I mention that we were in Boston when the water line busted so the whole city was under a boil water notice thus Starbucks (and everywhere else could not make coffee). But we survived. That afternoon I dragged Leslie out to Fenway Park to experience the Boston Red Sox's stadium. We enjoyed a little ballpark tour and then a beer.
It was a great trip and fun to see college friends! Oh where will the next trip to visit friends take me?!
