Tis the Summer of College Roommates Getting Married: Laura Allyson
It all started in the lobby of Graves Hall as we were waiting to go to one of our first Alpha Gamma Delta new member meetings. I was in need a black suit for my upcoming Freshman Forum final interview. Laura Allyson looked to be a girl that was about my size and I thought that it would be perfectly normal to ask a girl that was at that point was basically a complete stranger if she had a suit that I could borrow. Well she did! That was just the beginning of our friendship.
We were two girls that lived on "The Hill" which is not necessarily the ideal location that most Auburn freshman girls like to live; but we enjoyed having each other so close. Freshman year we walked almost daily on the ~4 mile loop around campus. Through these walks we began to share our history and grow together through the fun college times.
The next year we moved to the Alpha Gam dorm. Lived across the hall from each other in the cubby. We saw each other walk through some difficult struggles in college but also were there laughs and fun times. Our junior year we once again lived in the Alpha Gam dorm this time as roommates. We enjoyed our green tea every morning, watching soap opera's over lunch and Dr. Phil in the afternoon. We both studied like there was no tomorrow for our intense chemistry loads that year. She was accepted in Pharmacy school and I changed my major to Nutrition. By these two moves we both knew that we would be staying in Auburn an extra year.
Our dream of living on Gay Street came true the next year. We had houses across the street from each other. Continued our walks although they were rather inconsistent due to our stressful work loads.
Then she started dating this boy from Mississippi. I will admit that at first I was skeptical because who is ever from Mississippi? (I laugh now because I am an official MS resident) But the boy grew on me and I could not help but love his baby face. I remember her telling me that this was the boy she was going to marry one day. I could tell immediately that Laura Allyson was just crazy about this Mississippi boy; and he was quite crazy about her.
So a couple of months ago LA married that boy. It was the wedding she had always dreamed about... Her dad married them, reception at the Stewart Field Mansion on the campus of Spring Hill College, nice little band in the back yard and food that was oh so delicious.
Glad that I could be apart of the celebration! Can't wait to visit my pharmacist friend and the hubby in Troy!
